None Notice: Hadronic Bugs in Releasae 8.1

Forum: Hadronic Processes
Date: 17 Jul, 2006
From: Dennis H. Wright <Dennis H. Wright>

There are three bugs in Geant4 8.1 which were not discovered in time for the
release. They are:

1) Frame rotation was incorrectly placed in the G4HadronElastic model (new
elastic model) instead of in the process. This affects all of the
   pre-packaged physics lists.
2) Another bug (in G4UHadronElasticProcess) puts a 1 keV limit on kinetic
energy which affects the HP neutron models. All physics lists using the HP
neutron models (LHEP_PRECO_HP, etc.) are affected.
3) A rare (1 event in 80,000) crash was uncovered in the QGSC physics list.

Thses bugs have been fixed and will be included in the next patch of

It is recommended that those users affected by these bugs use Geant4 8.0 p01
until a patch of Geant4 8.1 can be released. If you have an urgent need
of the fixes already made, please contact:

Vladimir Ivantchenko (bugs 1 and 2) (

Mikhail Kossov (bug 3) (
