Dennis.

Thank you very much for helping me with this problem. I did remove the boron but the results were the same. I took your comment to heart and abandoned all of my code. I started from scratch with my favorite example N03. I modified very little of the code. I removed the physics list and incorporated the LHEP_PRECO_HP physics list. Yet again I get the same answer. One thing that I have noticed is that how the material is defined makes all of the difference in the world. In N03 I have made two materials

G4Material* Sci2 = new G4Material("Scintillator2", density= 1.032*g/cm3, ncomponents=2);

Sci2->AddElement(C, natoms=9);

Sci2->AddElement(H, natoms=10);

G4Material* Sci3 = new G4Material("Scintillator3", density= 1.032*g/cm3, ncomponents=2);

Sci3->AddElement(C, fractionmass=47.3*perCent);

Sci3->AddElement(H, fractionmass=52.7*perCent);

These two should be functionally the same yet the results from these are entirely different. The top one using the natoms= yields results I would expect. Most of the neutrons go through the material without any interactions. The bottom one (which is the method I have been using) the neutrons scatter all over the place.

I cannot use the natoms method because I need to dope the scintillator with boron.

Is there something fundamental that I donít understand? ( Iím quite happy to pass along the code for inspection)
