Question 8Li decay

Dears

I am trying to simulate the alpha spectrum resulting from 8Li isotope, this decay should include a b- decay with end energy equal to 12 MeV to the first excited state of 8Be (3.04MeV).

In theoretical approach this first excited state is not sharp, but broad and follow the Breit-wiegner distribution, so as a result to the b- decay I should find different values of energy for Be-8, but what I got is only the very sharp and most probable case E=3.04 KeV. and according to this excited state level the maximum energy deposition for alpha is only 3.04. but according to literature we should get a spectrum with tail reaching 8 MeV. How could we overcome this issue using Radioactive decay example??

on the second step where the 8Be should decay into two alphas, these two alphas should have the same KE, but this is not the case (E1=1.49MeV & E2=1.62MeV), is this due to CMS and Lab system??

your help is appreciated
