Question Modifying RadioactiveDecay Half-life

Forum: Hadronic Processes
Date: 28 Feb, 2017
From: Nicole Ackerman <Nicole Ackerman>

I know that the half-life for Ac225 has been fixed in RadioactiveDecay5.1, but I'd like to continue running my simulations in Geant4-10.2.p02 with RadioactiveDecay4.3.2. I had assumed that I could just change the half-life listed in the z89.a225 file to "fix" it by hand, but that has not worked.

I've verified that I am modifying the file in the folder that the G4RADIOACTIVEDATA environment variable refers to. I've tried re-compiling my code, etc - but Ac225 still does not decay. Do I need to completely recompile Geant4? Is there something else that I need to modify?

The relevant output I see from using /grdm/verbose 3 is:

  G4WT2 > KineticEnergy: 0 GeV, Mass: 209.608 GeV, Life time: -1 ns
  G4WT2 >  mean life time: 1.79769e+299 s
  G4WT2 > G4RadioactiveDecay::DecayIt : Ac225 is not a valid nucleus for the RDM
