I'm shooting 20MeV gammas on a gas of many elements and at the end I try to recover the nucleus target when there was an inelastic interaction looking at the resulting nucleus and its sisters (alphas, neutrons, protons) making sure they have all the same parentID index. In most cases I am successful but in some others this procedure gives me nuclei which were not in the material description. I wonder if geant4 can be having problems on assigning parentID and ID correctly or if I'm missing something else. Any suggestion on this issue? Or does anyone know if there is a built-in geant4 method to get the target nucleus of the interaction without having to figure it out via interaction products? Help or thoughts on this one is very much appreciated. :-)
