The fact that you are getting seg faults in unusual places suggests that you are either using old code or need to re-build your copy of Geant4 or both. I would suggest that you: 1) update to Geant4 9.5 p01, 2) use the Shielding physics list instead of the underground one, and 3) re-build all your code.
