 For the first part, I let experts on hadronic physics give an precise answer.
 The beta-decay is part of the radioactiveDecay module. You may have a look on the examples in extended/radioactivedecay.

 ps : you can implement in your application the SteppingVerbose as it is in recent TestEm examples, and run with tracking/verbose 2
