The experimental data of the muonic X-ray is taken from Table 3.4 in Phys. Rep. 354, 243 (2001). Since the energies for Al and Fe are consistent with our measurement within 2 keV, I think those empirical energies are reliable. However, for instance, the calculated X-ray energy for the Fe 2p-1s transition is off by 19keV. The discrepancies systematically increase as a function of energy. In the case of Pb, the difference is larger than 100keV, which is not tribial in the measurement using Ge detector.
Though I mentioned about the splitting of the X-rays of the 2p-1s transition, it is not the main problem. I think Geant4 generates the center of gravity of the fine structure. The problem is the discrepancies of the calculated value and the experimental data.
My program may have problem. But, I suspect that Geant4 uses some old or wrong parameters for the muonic X-ray. I would be grateful if developers fix them. If developer gives me a comment about this problem, I am happy.
