Question G4 Exception -- can't find ProcessManager for baryon resonances

Forum: Hadronic Processes
Date: 19 Oct, 2011
From: Thomas Junk <Thomas Junk>

I'm simulating neutrino interactions in a water cherenkov detector, and there are hadronic showers induced. I'm using Geant 4.9.4.p02 and have the binary cascade physics model chosen. I'm getting this in a small fraction of simulated events:

-------------------------------------
ERROR - G4SteppingManager::GetProcessNumber()
       ProcessManager is NULL for particle = N(1535)+, PDG_code = 22212

*** G4Exception : Tracking0011
     issued by : G4SteppingManager::GetProcessNumber()
Process Manager is not found.
*** Fatal Exception *** core dump ***

*** G4Exception: Aborting execution *** --------------------------------------

The N(1535)+ can be other particles such as Delta0, Delta+, Delta++, or even a rho. I've checked that the binary cascade model is being instantiated and called at least once in the job, but not necessarily for this specific track. It's a short-lived nucleon resonance which should decay promptly anyhow and not be tracked.

Any suggestions?
