Correction:

The number of secondary neutrons produced is actually not so radically different in the two cases, but the distances travelled by the neutrons are. With 9.3.p02, the mean distance between the injection vertex and n capture is ~77cm; with 9.4.p01, the mean distance is ~39cm. I know that the Bertini cascade model was rewritten in 9.4.p01. Could this or some other changes in the physics models be responsible for the difference?
