Question alphaInelastic products

Forum: Hadronic Processes
Date: 23 Feb, 2011
From: Coste Benoit <Coste Benoit>

Hello everybody,

I'm simulating passage of proton and helium through 2 planes of silicium. I'm studying the energy deposit in both plane.

For protons, my energy deposit is sometimes higher than usual because of a protonInelastic process occuring. This process produce a lot of secondary particles, some of them with high charge, thus increasing my energy deposit.

For alpha I have no event with a high multiplicity even if the alphaInelastic process occurs. The alphaInelastic process (which is registered in G4IonBinaryCascadePhysics::ConstructProcess() ) doesn't produce any secondary particles. This is pretty weird for an inelastic process.

So it looks like the process occurs but doesn't produce particles. How it is possible ?

Thank you for your help. Benoit
