Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. The problem comes from G4RadioactiveDecay::GetMeanLifeTime() on line 493-494. If an excited level is not in the G4 Radioactive Decay Database then the mean life time is simply set to -1ns and the decay is spontaneous.
A direct solution is to update the file z36.a83 in the Radioactive Decay database with the excited level that you need to treat correctly in your simulation . For example to get a correct deexcitation time for the 9.4 keV level, you need to add the following two lines to this file
P 9.40530 1.54e-07 IT 0.0000
For a future release of Geant4, I will study the two following solutions to fix the problem:
1)Modify G4RadioactiveDecay::GetMeanLifeTime() such that if the excited state is not contain in the Radioactive Files it get the mean life time from some of the photo evaporation classes.
2)Update the radioactive files with the nucleus levels provided in the evaporation files.
At the moment I do prefer the first solution as it does not need a duplication of the same data into two different G4 database.
