Hello,

In the tracking verbose printout the process which limit the step is shown. In your case it is Hadron Elastic. This mean that other Geant4 processes proposed large step limit than the elastic one. During the step other processes are always active: transportation process defines end point and energy change because of EM field, multiple scattering providing deflection, ionisation process samples energy loss. There are other processes which may be active: scintillation, Cerenkov...
