None hadronic elastic process' energy lost

Hello,

I am having a doubt about hadronic elastic process:

in my simulations 500 MeV protons impact on two concentric spheres (Al and Cu) surrounding my detector, and when incident protons produce elastic scattering there is some amount of energy labeled as "dE"; lost in the interaction that I don't understand where is going ("dE" should be the energy related to secondary particles created in the interaction that have an energy under the cut, but there is no secondary particle in elastic interaction).

could this dE be the energy necessary to extract the nucleus from the metallic reticulum? or is it something else that does not come to my mind because of my poor understanding ofthe model?
