i am trying to simulate the production of C11 (and other radionuclides) by cosmic muons in organic scintillator (PC, C_9 H_12). The energy of the cosmic muons are 270GeV, corresponding to the mean muon energy at the LNGS. I am using the QGSP_BERT_HP physics list with muon nuclear process activated (/physics_engine/tailor/MuonNuclear on).
The simulated number of produced neutrons (2.72e-4 /muon/g/cm²) is in good agreement with the experimental data, but only 1.4e-5 /muon/g/cm² C11 (the experimentally measured value by the Borexino Collaboration is 8.2e-5 /muon/g/cm² ) is produced.
After taking a closer look, i found out that muons and gammas do not produce C11 at all, although the channel gamma+C12->n+C11 should be the dominant one.
I hope anybody has an idea to solve this problem,
