Question C15 from NeutronInelastic

Forum: Hadronic Processes
Date: 26 Aug, 2009
From: Vitaliy Ziskin <Vitaliy Ziskin>

Hello, I observed that when I have fast neutrons "bouncing" around in shielding material they create, albeit not very often, Carbon-15. Since, I do not have Carbon-14 anywhere in the material, it is interesting to find out where this comes from. By looking at tracking information all I can find out is that Carbon-15 is created by NeutronInelastic and a low energy gamma is ejected. Is there a way to find out which nucleaon the neutron strikes to make Carbon-15? Has anyone observe similar things?

                     Regards, Vitaliy
