None Support for "expression" tag in GDML?

It appears that the "expression" tag is not supported in the G4 built-in GDML? It is defined in the schema (gdml_define.xsd):

<xs:element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" name="expression" type="IdentifiableExpressionType">
            <xs:documentation>Named expression, may contain other named constants,
              quantities and expressions</xs:documentation>

but is not supported in G4GDMLReadDefine::DefineRead():

      if (tag=="constant") { ConstantRead(child); } else
      if (tag=="matrix")   { MatrixRead(child); }   else
      if (tag=="position") { PositionRead(child); } else
      if (tag=="rotation") { RotationRead(child); } else
      if (tag=="scale")    { ScaleRead(child); }    else
      if (tag=="variable") { VariableRead(child); } else
      if (tag=="quantity") { QuantityRead(child); }
        G4String error_msg = "Unknown tag in define: "+tag;
        G4Exception("G4GDMLReadDefine::defineRead()", "ReadError",
                    FatalException, error_msg);

Am I missing something? The "expression" tag is extremely useful.
