Question How to create a layered detector

I would like to create a silicon detector consisting in layers. I need to keep information of each layer, or at least of the sensitive one, so I need to have access to the logical or physical volumes, also one layer has to be a sensitive detector. I need to create a sensitive detector to read information about energy deposition, coordinates, hits, etc. I need to define a readout geometry in order to divide the sensitive layer into voxels. My layers should be different in thickness and material, but not in shape. I did that by specifying different logical and physical volumes and adding them together, but I read that this method creates overlapping and I would get unpredictable errors in my simulation. How can I do this? Can I use G4AssemblyVolume class? Is there an example to do it? What is the best way to do it? 1. Replicas? 2. Parameterized volumes? 3. Assembly?
