May I start by thanking you all for your comments.

They have been very useful and I feel like I know where to start now.

just one small question though, more of a C++ matter this time.

This would suit me nicely however I am currently defining my source in a

   It is already in the main :

   UI->ApplyCommand("/control/execute fileName");

Here Michel pointed out to me that the macros is already included in the main. This means I understood the code much worse than I thought:

what does the int main (int argc , char argv**)

actually mean then?

I have been typing g4run <simulationname> <macro_name> to execute my simulation.

Does this mean I have been running two macros?

Or is the section
else
  // Batch mode
  {
    G4String command = "/control/execute ";
    G4String fileName = argv[1];
    UI->ApplyCommand(command+fileName);
  }

just executing the macro?

Thanks once again for all your help!!
