One of the features of G4RegularNavigation is that it does, in some sense, replace little voxels of the same material by a bigger volume, not that it actually ends up with less voxels (not a memory problem anyway since the geometry is parameterized to avoid having actual separate boxes in memory) but that it knows to ignore boundary effects when moving from one volume to a neighboring volume of the same material.
