I do not believe the second run starts with the same seed, but the difference between runs is greater that just small variations. In some runs, energy is deposited in the detector as it should be, but in others all of the events deposit zero energy. Visualizing the system using OGLIX, it looks like the detector after being updated has a strange geometry. Rather than being a cylinder, it looks like several circles and lines that do not form any recognizable shape. Then updating again, it looks like it should, as a cylinder.
