Hi Svetlana,

you can specify NIST materials by their name in your GDML file, and these
should be properly handled in Geant4 (see the sample mat_nist.gdml in
example extended/persistency/gdml/G01).
This will trigger schema validation warnings at the time the GDML file is 
parsed, as such configuration is not foreseen by the schema itself, but
materials will be nevertheless properly loaded from the internal
NIST data-base in Geant4.
