Question how to use subtraction in GDML

Forum: Geometry

hell everyone, I want to define a detector which contain outer detector and inner detector. I also need data that respectively obtain from the outer detector and the inner detector. so what should I do ? in my opinion, I should use the "subtraction".

but when I attempt to define a detector (that its size is 1*1*0.5m and in its center has a hole 0.5*0.5*0.5m)with subtraction, the finnal shape is a whole box without hole. where is wrong? could you help me with it?
