Question Deregister logical/physical volumes

Forum: Geometry
Date: 18 Apr, 2016
From: Giuseppe Vacanti <Giuseppe Vacanti>

I have a detector made of a few objects, and for convenience I assemble the detector objects inside a box, so that I can position all the detector objects easily.

This however leads to there being an extra box in the geometry, and I get extra events that call a user action when the particles enter/exit the box. I would like to make the box invisible to the navigator so I don't have to pay any attention to the particles crossing the boundary of a volume that is not really part of the experiment.

I tried something like:

 - open geometry
 - deregister the physical/logical volume corresponding to the box
 - close geometry

but this seems to remove all the daughters contained in the box.

Is what I want possible, and if it is am I looking at the right way to go about it?

Thanks, Giuseppe
