Thank you for your reply,

So in solution 1, if I have the subelment with just 2 holes, I'm supposed to use G4PVPlacement to make up a layer? Do i do this with a for-loop for as many placements as i need to make up a layer? Also, how do i properly handle the "mirroring" of the subelements to make the holes line up?

Also, once this is done, do i again make a for loop and insert a cylindrical logical into the holes left in the layer? That's my interpretation of solution 1. Is it possible to associate a sensitive detector with both the gas and all the layers? My intention is to collect the energy deposited in the whole structure.

Not all layers are of the same thickness.

Daniel
