Dear Chen,

Could you please give more information. It would be helpful if you could let us know 

- what version of Geant4 you are using
- confirm the version of XercesC (or other XML parser) you use
- how large the geometry is in the GDML file - number of volumes, number of vertices, size (MB) of files
- the amount of memory which your machine has.

In addition, please describe the application area in which you are working.
