Hello,

With G4 9.5 we introduced a new feature: base material approach. A simple example is available with $G4INSTALL/examples/extended/electromagnetic/TestEm7 also is described in Application Developer Manual.

The idea is to have one "based" material and produced from it many derived materials with different densities. This derived materials should be defined in any case before the run but this method is much more economic at initialisation - cross sections and stopping powers are computed for the base material only. If one uses parametrized geometry, a material of the voxel may be peaked up via copy-number.
