Question Usage of Base Material

Forum: Geometry
Date: 02 Feb, 2012
From: Andreas Best <Andreas Best>

I've been trying to take advantage of the new base material functionality, so far without success. I might be missing something obvious, but how exactly can I declare a base material which I can then use later?

I've tried the following approach:

G4Material* He = man->FindOrBuildMaterial("G4_He");

const G4Material* He_base = He->GetBaseMaterial();

G4Material* He_CC1 = new G4Material("He CC1", density_CC1, He_base);

This does not work for me, as it turns out that He_base is a null pointer. If I construct "He" by hand without using the material database the result is the same.

What is the correct way to do that?

Thanks, Andreas
