Hi,

I presume your geometry is the following.

| world                     |
|                           |
|  +---------------------+  |
|  | water               |  |
|  |                     |  |
|  |  +---------------+  |  |
|  |  | aluminum      |  |  |
|  |  +---------------+  |  |
|  +---------------------+  |
+---------------------------+

And you assign your sensitive detector to the volume which is made of water.

Even though your RO-geometry covers the area of aluminum, the sensitive detector itself won't propagate to the daughter aluminum volume. That is the reason why you did not see the energy deposition in the aluminum volume. Please set the same sensitive detector pointer to the daughter aluminum volume as well.
Please note that the volume boundaries defined in the RO-geometry won't limit a step.
