I'm trying to define a NaI scintillator, surrounded by 4 Al surfaces and with 2 exit windows that connect it to a photomultiplier by SiO2 light guides
not having had any experience with scintillators I decided as a first step to define only housing and NaI cristal, and to make the SiO2 guides sensitive detectors on the windowed sides to directly count optical photons coming out.
I based my detectorconstruction on EXN06, but I'm having a problem with scoring and several doubts
- i corrected the values for RefractiveIndex (and soon I will do the same for Absorption1[nEntries]) adapting from water to NaI, but what is the physical meaning of ScintilSlow and ScintilFast? are they still important if you don't mind time in your simulation?
- from what i understood there is no need to actually wrap the scintillator in Al as long as i specify a dielectric-metal surface between NaI and ExpHall, is it correct? (I needed to cover the upper side anyway in order to simulate absorption of incoming photons)
- my sensitivedetector is not recording anything, even though i can see in visualization opticalphotons passing through it
