Hi,

there're no alternative solutions than those mentioned in the user manual
and, given the current resources, we don't plan to provide new ones.
Import through tessellated shapes works, although it may not be very
efficient for complex imported shapes.
An alternative approach for conversion of CAD geometries to GDML is being
studied in the context of the SALOME (http://www.salome-platform.org/)
project, you may want to take a look at that one as well...
