the recursive test is more affected by numerical instabilities, as reported in the
documentation, and results may vary depending on the granularity of the grid
over-imposed on the geometry and overlaps with its surfaces.
The check done through the physical volume constructors is in general more
reliable, since based on the true answer of the solid for points on the surface.
