Question GDML material and color

Forum: Geometry
Date: 27 Jul, 2010
From: Caroline Dubé <Caroline Dubé>

I would like to define some color for the different components of my detector on GDML. I tried to add it using exactly the example given in the GDML user guide (<auxiliary auxtype=”Color” auxvalue=”blue”/>), but it didn't work. I get

Evaluator : unknown variable

*** ExceptionHandler is not defined ***

*** G4Exception : InvalidExpression
      issued by : G4GDMLEvaluator::Evaluate()
Error in expression: blue

Does anyone know how to do it correctly? Do I have to modified the way the auxiliary are read or the example in persistency/gdml/G01 is enough?

Also, I was wondering if it was possible to define material using only a name and a density considering that it is not an element and that the chemical composition is unknown? I' using, for example, FR4, so my definition would be

  <material name="FR4" >
	<D value="1.85" />

but I get an error from G4Element saying that Z and A can't be smaller than 1. And also, why is the material read as an element and not as a material using G4Material?
