Question Energy Conservation with G4ParticleChange ProposeTrackStatus

I understand that if a user "kills" a track in any of the user methods (say UserSteppingAction) that Geant will not keep track of the energy lost in the simulation by killing the particle. As such, the user must keep track of the final kinetic energy in such a case in order to verify conservation of energy at the end of an event.

My question is if I need to manually take into account the energy lost when doing a G4ParticleChange and setting ProposeTrackStatus("fStopAndKill") (say for photon absorption, where I want to kill the primary after the physics process is complete). Ultimately, I'm just not sure what Geant is doing at this point...
