Question How to see if a track will intersect a volume before throwing it?

Is there some way to project the momentum vector for a track from its vertex, before throwing it, to see if the track will intersect a certain volume? The idea being to only throw tracks which will hit a particular volume, and save CPU cycles by not throwing tracks which aren't going to hit any sensitive volumes.
