Hi Peter, can I infer from your message that E_kin_pre_step_point - E_kin_post_step_point = total energy deposit?

as far as I can tell:

E_kin_pre_step_point - E_kin_post_step_point = -G4Step::GetDeltaEnergy()

but most of the time delta_E_kin > Total Energy Deposit.

the other question I have is: what exactly is considered Non Ionizing Energy Deposit? and is it counted in Total Energy Deposit? also where does the rest of the energy go? (most of the time delta_E_kin > Total Energy Deposit + Non Ionizing Energy Deposit)

is there a place I could read up on how this quantities are calculated?
