Yes, it is the USUAL grief and pitfall we (G4 developers) have in store for our users! The PostStepPoint pointer is NULL when the track leaves the world volume. You MUST check every pointer you use; i.e. it isn't NULL before you actually use it. That may be "good C++" but I still think it is "mean" of us to provide a NULL pointer in G4Step. I want to ask AGAIN, what is wrong with my solution of having a little larger volume around the world, created by default in G4, so G4Step has a valid PostStepPointer and hence VolumeName at an escaping track's end? I, for one, have been asking this question for years.
