You can define step size as small as you need by this code in DetectorConstruction class:
(for example 10 um step size)

G4TransportationManager* tmanager = G4TransportationManager::GetTransportationManager();
tmanager->GetPropagatorInField()->SetLargestAcceptableStep(10*um);
