Question Energy of incident gamma that underwent photoelectric effect

In my simulation, electrons only appear when a gamma undergoes the photoelectric effect. When those electrons are detected, in ProcessHits of the SD I need to know the incident energy of the gamma that created the detected electron. How can I get that information? I tried using

aStep->GetTrack()->GetVertexKineticEnergy()

but this gives me the electron's original energy. Thanks!
