Question can sensitive detectors be used to filter out secondary particles .. ?

Dear Geant Users,

  I need help ..

Suppose I have a sample material, say Silicon.I irradiate it with photons of a particular energy. The photons interact with the material and produce secondaries, electrons and photons. I am interested in the secondary electrons. If I place a sensitive detector below the material, it registers a hit only if a primary particle, the photon impinges on the sensitive detector. What I want is for the sensitive detector to register a hit when the secondary electron impinges on it, because I want to accumulate the electrons and plot a spectrum. Right now, I'm using a counter in the mySteppingVerbose.cc to filter out the necessary particles and count them as they pass into the counter.

My questions are :

1 ) Is it possible to select the particle of our choice to be registered as a hit in the sensitive detector ? 2 ) Is it possible to have many sensitive detectors that are "sensitive" to different particles ?

  Thanks.

Manju Sudhakar.
