Thanks all for pointers.

 I was able to get the detector working by using TestEm3 as base. 

What do u mean by "do not use the concept of sensitive detector and hits".

Here is a brief summary of what I did.

Replace PrimaryGeneratorAction.cc with that of TestEm4 with minor changes

I replaced the world, solids of calorimeter and Layer with

cylindrical properties from TestEm4.

also I set the following parameters with new Rmin and Rmax[k]

  Rmax[0] = 1.25*cm;
  Rmin[1] = 1.25*cm;

  ComputeCalorParameters();

  // materials
  DefineMaterials();

  SetAbsorMaterial(1,"HPGe");

The outputs of the modified program which generate implantation energy 
spectra of Al absorber and HPGe detector look reasonable.

At low energy <15 keV no detection in HPGe while it almost all absorbed by Al. At about 1MeV , almost no detection in Al absorber.

The efficiency plot of this HPGe detector also look reasonable.
