None maximum file size exceeded problem

Forum: Event and Track Management
Date: 27 Aug, 2004
From: Vincent Clochard <>

I am running geant4 on RedHat 9.1 . When the output ascii file "gate_coincidence.dat" size exceeded 2GB I can’t open it with a fopen() command. The problem is that, for each particle, the following lines are written in the output ascii file:

* G4Track Information:   Particle : particle name,   Track ID = 1,    Parent ID = 0

But I am simulating a scintillation process with average 5000 photons generated by event. And with 10000 primary particles. These lines are not written if I set “ /tracking/verbose “ to 0 (and not to 1). But in this case, I haven‘t access to the information, in the file, that I am looking for.

Does anybody have idea on how to fix this problem.
