Hello everyone,

I problem I am currently working on requires transporting electrons in a region where the mean free path varies with distance to the next geometrical boundary. i.e. the mfp is not constant between steps

My wish is to distribute the electron step lengths according to a probability distribution computed at each discrete step (distribution given below). Rather than returning a mean free path (/interaction length) and letting Geant decide the step length.

It would be great to hear what might be best practise in this case. To my knowledge this functionality is not achievable with G4VDiscreteProcess. Would this be the correct application of AlongStepGetPhysicalInteractionLength in a G4VContinuousProcess? Are there relevant examples? (sorry if I missed anything obvious!)

I would really appreciate any advice.

f(b|a,alpha) = {sigma(b, alpha)/cos(alpha)}exp{-integral_a^b[sigma(a,alpha)/(cos(alpha)]}

Where a is the starting position, b is the 'future' position, alpha is the angle to the surface normal
