Question Tracking Particle Lifetimes

Forum: Event and Track Management
Date: 21 Jul, 2014
From: Matt McIntyre <Matt McIntyre>

I'm trying to track the lifetimes of certain charged particles (pi-, mu-, etc..) in a mercury target so that I can compare them with experimental values. So far I have gotten time values which are orders of magnitude too low compared to the experimental data.

What time should I be using to track these lifetimes? And what is the general method for tracking the lifetime of a particle? Any code examples for doing this would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thank you,
