Dear Geant4 Users and Experts
I am trying to simulate a BC501 neutron detector placed in air under the stream of events produced by 252Cf source. The source I have implemented with G4FissionLibrary in geant4 which produces around 10-15 particles of gammas and neutrons. I have observed that the simulation goes well for small number of events like 10^5 but if I runs for the large number of events 10^8 then the process gets killed by the Linux kernel in between before completion. I suspect that this might be due to large number os primary vertexes are generated which eats the computer memory. My question is
1. What are the possibilities for the memory consumption in this case ??? 2. How do I back-trace that. 3. Is the over eating is because of large number of primary vertexes which 252Cf generates. 4. I can kill the unwanted tracks, and can shoot the particles in the detector direction only, but I need to do the simulation for the completed array of neutron detectors having 4pi configuration, in that case I need a isotropic source emission to study the cross-talk as well. So how the memory issue related to the primary particles can be handle in this case.
I would appreciate if the experts shed some light in this direction.....
