Hi Dimitry,

There are still too many unknowns for me to speculate why you see what you see with your logic and simulation. I can only say that the origins of Cerenkov photons are sampled for each step of a radiating particle as follows:

G4ThreeVector x0 = pPreStepPoint->GetPosition(); G4ThreeVector aSecondaryPosition = x0 + rand * aStep.GetDeltaPosition();

where rand [0,1] and GetDeltaPosition() returns the vector:

fpPostStepPoint->GetPosition() - fpPreStepPoint->GetPosition()

A G4Track with parentId == 0 means it's a primary. Only your muon should have parentId == 0. None of the Cerenkov photons should.
