It does not appear to me all that easy to add your requested feature to GPS.

Your beef is not with what I'd call a 'bug' and so I would not encourage you to submit a bug-report. We used to have a 'user requirements tracker':

but I don't think it works anymore....

Your best bet is probably contacting the developer directly with your suggestion though I doubt this will become a priority given that there is a perfectly good way already dealing with your requirement through StackingAction.
