Hi Leif,

If you are interested in Cherenkov light, why not simulate it in Geant4. G4 will produce the correct intensity and frequency of Cherenkov photons as well as their direction if you provide the index of refraction of your ice. It does this from the 'instantaneous' direction and speed of the charged particle during a simulation step (the primary muon as well as any/all secondary charge particles). And, of course, G4 will produce Chernkov photons only above the threshold.
