Sean,

While doing a little investigating to answer a different question, I found the photon energy data for Au197 in $G4NEUTRONHPDATA/Capture/FS/79_197_Gold. It matches the ENDF/B-VI data perfectly,

http://www.nndc.bnl.gov/exfor/servlet/E4sGetIntSection?SectID=78687&req=46136

But unfortunately it does not appear to show any of the peaks gold ought to have,

http://www.nndc.bnl.gov/capgam/byn/page237.html

I cannot explain why the data does not appear to agree, but this *would* explain why you are not seeing the gammas you would expect to. My knowledge of the HP data is somewhat incomplete; I expect Peter can explain what is going on.

Hope this helps, Joel
