You also need to set the tracking parameters much larger -- the defaults
are appropriate for a typical HEP detector, so the tracking will be 
integrating the equations of motion with ~millimeter parameters. 
See the Geant4 user's guide and physics manual for details.

The default values are (units are mm):
        deltaChord=3.0
 deltaIntersection=0.1
      deltaOneStep=0.01
            epsMax=0.05
            epsMin=2.5e-7
           maxStep=100.0
           minStep=0.01

There may well be others....
